Americans are becoming increasingly uneasy about the state of the U.S. economy as elevated prices continue to put pressure on household budgets. Several recent surveys point to a broad decline in economic confidence, with many people saying they believe conditions are getting worse.

Rising Prices Remain a Major Concern

The latest polling paints a difficult picture of how Americans view their financial situation. Gallup found that 47% of Americans described current economic conditions as poor, while 73% said the economy was getting worse. Both figures represented increases compared with the previous month.

Concerns extend beyond current prices. A Marquette Law School survey found that roughly seven in ten Americans expected inflation to rise during the following year, indicating that many households remain worried about continued pressure on their purchasing power.

Trump Faces Growing Economic Criticism

The surveys also show that many voters are holding President Donald Trump responsible for the country's economic difficulties. In one Fox News poll, 56% said Trump's policies were hurting the economy, compared with 28% who believed they were helping. His approval rating on economic issues was also deeply underwater.

Political Differences Remain Clear

Economic perceptions vary sharply along party lines. Republicans are generally more likely to view Trump's policies favorably, although even within the Republican Party there are notable differences between MAGA and non-MAGA voters. Democrats and independents tend to express considerably more negative assessments.
